Artist Profile: Zundel De Freitas

Zundel De Freitas graduated from Goldsmiths University of London with a BA in Fine Art in 2018. Zundel is a sculptor from London, working mostly with crystal, glass and translucent material. His Apergy Series and Maiden Flight Series are intended as a self encounter, excavated relics, robust holy flowers, a something pushed down. An arrangement of glass and metal and tubing determines form. The sculptures are so much about gravity, the fact they are precious and heavy, and being bound and pulled down, gleaming and dazzling like a temple, and their separate parts suggesting some relationship, some closed internal system, sedate and shimmering, gravity and apergy.
